UPSC CSE Selection Procedure:

The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) process happening in three stages. The First stage is Prelim Examination (Objective type questions) then second is Mains Examination (Written) and the last one is Interview (Personality Test).

UPSC CSE Prelims General Studies Paper – I syllabus:

• Current Affairs: Current events of national and international importance.
• History of India and Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World Geography: Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
• Indian Polity and Governance: Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
• Economic and Social Development: Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
• General issues on Environmental: ecology, Bio-diversity, and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.
• General Science.

Note: For Santhali language, the question paper will be printed in Devanagari script but candidates will be free to answer either in Devanagari script or in Olchiki.

This part of the exam comes only after the results of the mains exams are declared. Candidates can give preference to the language in which they may like to be interviewed. UPSC will make arrangement for the translators. The marks fetched in this stage of the exam are combined with the marks obtained in the UPSC mains.
